Dollar Value of a Disney Dining Plan

Last year (2014) my family took a trip and took advantage of the Free Quick-Service Dining Plan offer, with a value resort stay.  We had 3 adults (my husband, myself, and my sister), 1 son with a park ticket (age 4), and 1 son without a park ticket (age 2).  We stayed for 7 nights.  Each of us with a park ticket got the Dining Plan benefits times those seven nights:

• 1 refillable resort mug (refillable only at the resort)
• 2 quick-service meals/night
• 1 snack credit/night

The receipts print out with a $0 total, but we kept track of the cost of each of our meals and snacks.  Of course, the value of a dining plan varies, according to what you order, but, this post can give you an idea of how it worked out for my family.  If you’re really curious about the cost of meals (or the break-down of our totals), you can see what we actually bought in this post, as well.  Two snack credit totals were estimated because we forgot to save the total of those orders, but the should be pretty close.

So, for our family of 3 adults & 1 child (and sharing with a toddler), our Quick-Service Dining Plan in 2014 was worth:

4 mugs:  $76.64 

Quick-Service Meals
56 meals:  $953.01

Snack Credits
28 Snacks:  $128.50

TOTAL VALUE OF QUICK-SERVICE DINING PLAN FOR OUR FAMILY:
$ 1,158.15

What the Dining Plan Would Have Cost (without the Free promotion):
at the 2014 Price of $39.64/night/adult and $15.75/night/child
$942.69

Equaling a Potential Savings of $215.46, had we paid for the dining plan
